I came to teaching as a second career. I have been a member of the Chicago theater community since the early 2000's and have been an actor, playwright, and casting director. I came to teaching due to a passion for science and critical thinking. I would like to mix my passion for science education with my entertainment background to create a class that is educational and entertaining at the same time.
“My favorite thing about Peterson is the strong sense of community and the very welcoming environment.”
I still perform from time to time. I also enjoy spending time with my wife and daughter, getting caught up on new video games, and watching movies.

I was actually interviewing for another school but lost the position due to time infraction. I was referred to Peterson by the principal that I first interviewed with and have fallen in love with the school.
“I love the atmosphere at Peterson. The school is very rich in diversity in religion, and ethnicities. I love learning and being able to work with students who have a background in being a first generation immigrant just as myself.”
My favorite thing to do outside of Peterson is hang out with friends and family.

I originally wanted to major in Nursing. I went to nursing school for a couple of years until I realized it was no longer my passion. I knew I loved to work with children and decided to pursue teaching. I have not looked back ever since and am extremely blessed to have a career I love.
My favorite thing about Peterson is the diversity. I am excited to learn about the different cultures and traditions of other students. The students and staff are also extremely friendly and welcoming.
I enjoy kayaking, fishing, pickleball, and spending time with my family when I am not at Peterson.

I have always been someone who loves the arts. Growing up I did theater on top of competitive gymnastics which meant for late night dinners and study sessions. My passion for teaching has since become my main focus. After graduating from Michigan State, I student taught and long-term subbed for two 1st grade classes. As a member of the Urban Educators Program, I knew I wanted to teach in a city. Not too far yet not too close to my hometown, I have decided to make Chicago my new home.
My favorite thing about Peterson is our staff and students. There is an honesty in our interactions which fosters genuine connections. It truly is a community that cares for one another and makes coming to work worthwhile.
Outside of school I love to watch football (Go Lions!!), explore the city, and read with a chai latte in hand.

My undergraduate degree is in architecture, and I worked in interior design for a few years before pivoting to arts education. After completing my MAT in Boston, I began my visual arts teaching career, working in the area for 5 years. At that time, my husband and I moved to Chicago because we love the city and how close it is to family. Peterson is a great fit for me, as my passion for design and arts fit perfectly into the STEAM program!
The community as a whole! I love my co-workers, students, and how involved families are!
My favorite arts medium is ceramics, so I love working with clay - especially on the wheel. I like to stay active by playing tennis and walking my dog. On weekends, you can catch me trying a new restaurant or cooking something at home!
