Parent Organizations
Peterson has many organizations that provide a way for parents and community members to get involved in helping Peterson Elementary become a better school for our students and community. Along with the organizations listed below, you may want to look into volunteering directly at the school.

Local School Council
(LSC)
Local School Councils approve how school funds and resources are allocated, develop and monitor the annual school improvement plan (CIWP), and advise and evaluate the school's principal.
Parent Teacher Association
(PTA)
The mission of the PTA is to promote academic, social, and environmental projects that build bonds between our school and the community. The PTA provides volunteers and financial assistance for many activities throughout the year.
Friends of Peterson Elementary
(FoP)
The Friends of Peterson is a fundraising organization. Its goal is to raise funds to help support the students and staff at Mary Gage Peterson Elementary School.
Parent Advisory Council
(PAC)
The PAC was created to help support the role of parents and the school as equal partners in children’s education. The primary purpose of the PAC is to empower parents to inspire and assist their children in achieving their educational goals.
Bilingual Advisory Council
(BAC)
The goal of the BAC is to help parents of English Language Learners (ELLs) develop leadership skills for effective participation in schools and to advocate for the academic, social, and cultural development of all ELLs.
