Full STEAM Ahead at Peterson
There is a lot happening inside the building at Peterson this summer to continue to make it a great learning environment for all kids and families! A STEAM capital improvement project, funded by the District, and renovations to Peterson classrooms, funded with remaining field funds from Peterson internal accounts, are currently taking place.

STEAM Capital Improvement Project:
We are Almost Finished!
To be addressed:
Paint touch ups in all rooms - incomplete
Cabinets (finishes & hardware) - partially completed
Damaged Furniture - returned, waiting on delivery
Sinks in science lab and art room - partially installed
Sound equipment installation - incomplete
New furniture - delivered, but still waiting on science tables
Replace dance room mirrors due to rust
The CPS Office of Capital Improvements were onsite last week to continue checking on progress of spaces and to pick the color of the sound proofing tiles in the dance room.

Capital Improvements to Classrooms:
4th grade classrooms, Room 106, and Room 111 have been completely finished including moving all furniture back into spaces. The rooms look incredible!
STEAM Capital Improvement Project:
KR Miller Construction and the CPS Capital Improvements office were onsite on 9-10-20 to do a walkthrough of the spaces and review all areas. Floors are almost complete including the new dance room floor which features multiple layers of foam to support dancers and physical activity! Sinks for Art (117) & 8th Grade Science (204) will be installed later this month. Electrical work has begun in the Auditorium and we are awaiting the delivery of the new sound system. Additionally, furniture is slowly being delivered to many of the newly renovated classrooms.

Capital Improvements to Classrooms:
Construction and updates to classrooms continue this summer! All 4th grade classrooms have been completed with a new coat of paint and refinished wood floors. Room 106 has been completed with refinished floors and newly painted walls.
STEAM Capital Improvement Project:
The floors in Room 109, 117, 204, and 227 are slated to be finished by next week! Work continues on refinishing the casing and shelving in all rooms. Painting will begin once floors are finalized.
Update: 7-20-20
Environmental and demolition work, carpentry and drywall work, and electric and plumbing work has all taken place. Check out the pictures to see some of the updates. Currently, plastering and patching is happening, and painting will begin soon. After that, work on the flooring, mirrors for the dance room, and work on the casework and hardware will begin.

STEAM Capital Improvement Project
As part of the STEAM Capital Improvement Project, two science labs (5th Grade 227 and 8th Grade 206) are getting completely renovated, and the Art Room (117) and the Dance Room/STEAM Lab (109) are getting lots of exciting updates as well, such as a new sink, updated cabinetry, and updated floors in the Art Room, and mirrors and a new floor in the Dance Room/STEAM Lab.
In addition, the auditorium is getting the wiring installed for an updated sound system.
Capital Improvements to Classrooms
Room 106 (Kindergarten) and all of the 4th Grade Classrooms (Rooms 125, 127, 128 and 130) are having the floors refinished and are getting a fresh coat of paint. Check out the pictures to see how the rooms look so far!
Room 112 (Kindergarten) is also getting the floors refinished.
