The Local School Council and the Principal Selection Process
The Peterson Local School Council (LSC) is pleased to announce that we awarded the Peterson Elementary principal contract to Yalil Nieves at last night's LSC meeting and she has accepted. Directly after the meeting, the community had a chance to hear from Ms. Nieves during the Open Community Forum. If you were unable to attend you can find the recording below.

June 29, 2020 - Principal Selection Update
Hello Peterson Community,
A reminder that the Local School Council (LSC) will hold its annual organizational meeting as well as a special meeting for principal selection on Wednesday, July 1st at 5:20 pm. Starting at 5:30 we will have time for public comment and then go into a closed session to discuss the candidate finalists. Following the closed session we will return to open session to vote on the finalists.

June 10, 2020 - Principal Selection Update
We are in the midst of our principal selection process, and we encourage you to share the qualities you value in a leader. Please reach out to any member of the LSC with your feedback. Additionally, a feedback survey will be sent out in the coming days. The LSC will be reviewing qualified applicants next week to determine which individuals move on to first round interviews.
May 20th, 2020 - Principal Selection Update
The LSC reviewed and approved an ad to post the position and encourage qualified applicants to apply. It now goes to the Department of Principal Quality, where it will be approved and posted to the CPS website. Applicants have until June 10 to apply.
May 14th, 2020 - Principal Selection Update
We are in the preliminary stages of the principal selection process. At next week’s LSC meeting on 5/20, we will finalize the ad to post the position and encourage qualified applicants, as well as finalize the timeline for the selection process. We encourage feedback from all stakeholders (parents, staff, teachers and students) throughout this important process.
