Peterson School Career Fair 2020 - Part 12: United States Marine Corps
Type of Career: Military
Training and/or Education Required: A High School Diploma, between the ages of 17-29, and must be a U.S. Citizen or a resident alien. Must meet physical, mental, and moral standards. Must pass the Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery (ASVAB) Test and the Military Entrance Processing Station Medical Exam.
Description: The Marine Corps is one of the most elite fighting forces in the world. The Marines are a part of the Department of the Navy and operate in close cooperation with U.S. Naval forces at sea. The Marine Corps' mission is unique among the services. Marines serve on U.S. Navy ships, protect naval bases, guard U.S. embassies, and provide an ever-ready quick strike force to protect U.S. interests anywhere in the world. Some Marine duties are fly planes and helicopters, operate radar equipment; drive armored vehicles, and gather intelligence to name a few.

Peterson School Career Fair 2020 - Part 11: United States Army
Type of Career: Military
Training and/or Education Required: Currently in high school or have a High School Diploma/GED, must be between the ages of 17 and 35 and a U.S. citizen, U.S. National, or a legal permanent resident alien. There are Physical and Medical Requirements to be met.
Description: There are different fields within the Military and based on the specific field you are assigned to, duties can vary. However, some duties include participating or supporting military operations like combat, training operations, humanitarian or disaster relief. They also operate, maintain, and repair equipment. They can perform technical and support activities. Some departments included are: Combat Specialty, Engineering/Science/Technical, Healthcare, Support Service, etc.

Type of Career: Law Enforcement/Protective Services
Training and/or Education Required: A high school diploma and Associate’s degree. Must graduate from the training academy before completing on-the-job training. Candidates must be U.S. citizens, usually at least 21 years old, and able to meet physical and personal qualifications.
Description: Police Officers focus on protecting people and property. They patrol the areas they are assigned, which sometimes include entire districts, respond to calls, enforce laws, make arrests, issue citations, and occasionally testify in court cases. They also provide first aid to someone involved in any type of accidents until paramedics arrive. They spend their time between patrolling, writing reports, and filling out forms.

Type of Career: Fitness & Health
Training and/or Education Required: The education and training required for fitness trainers and instructors varies by type of specialty, and employers prefer to hire those with certification.
Description: Fitness trainers and instructors lead, instruct, and motivate individuals or groups in exercise activities, including cardiovascular exercises (exercises for the heart and blood circulation), strength training, and stretching. They work with people of all ages and skill levels.

Type of Career: Healthcare
Training and/or Education Required: Registered nurses usually take one of three education paths: a bachelor’s degree in nursing, an associate’s degree in nursing, or a diploma from an approved nursing program. Registered nurses must be licensed.
Description: Registered nurses (RNs) provide and coordinate patient care, educate patients and the public about various health conditions, and provide advice and emotional support to patients and their families.

Peterson School Career Fair 2020 - Part 7: Pediatrician
Type of Career: Healthcare
Training and/or Education Required: A Bachelor’s degree (4 years) in Pre-Medical, Science, Child Psychology and/or in a related field. Must complete the Medical College Admission Test (MCAT). Earn, a degree from a Medical School (4 years), and finally 3-7 years in Internship and Residency Programs. Must obtain a license to Practice Medicine, also must obtain an additional license for the specialty (varies by state).
Description: Pediatricians are medical doctors that work mainly with infants, children, adolescents, and young adults up to the age of 21. They help their young patients with any physical, behavioral, and/or mental health issues They're trained to help and treat childhood illnesses, from minor health problems to serious issues.

Type of Career: Media & Communications
Training and/or Education Required: 4-year college, Bachelor’s degree in Journalism or Communications is preferred along with an internship or work experience from a college radio or television station or a newspaper.
Description: Reporters, correspondents, and broadcast news analysts inform the public about news and events happening internationally, nationally, and locally. They report the news for newspapers, magazines, websites, television, and radio.

Peterson School Career Fair 2020 - Part 5: Artist
Type of Career: Arts and Design
Training and/or Education Required: Some colleges, universities, and independent schools of Art and Design offer an Associate’s, Bachelor’s, or Master’s degree in Fine Arts or other art-related fields. Also, graduate programs, which can lead to a certificate are offered.
Description: Artists use a variety of materials and techniques to create art; they improve their skills through practice and repetition. Many artists work in fine- or commercial-art studios in office buildings, warehouses, or lofts. Others work in private studios in their homes.

Peterson School Career Fair 2020 - Part 4: Personal Chef
Type of Career: Food Preparation
Training and/or Education Required: High school diploma or equivalent. Receive training at a community college, technical school, culinary arts school, or 4-year college.
Description: A personal chef is someone who is a trained cook, who prepares at private households, businesses, and/or other food establishments for their clients. They will customize a meal plan specifically for their client's, shop for the items, and prepare the meal.

Peterson School Career Fair 2020 - Part 3: Transportation Planner
Type of Career: Management, Transportation, and Engineering
Training and/or Education Required: A bachelor's degree in Logistics, Civil Engineering, Planning, Economics, Geography, Public Policy, or a related field. For a higher position, a Master’s degree in related fields is preferred.
Description: A transportation planner is someone who works with government agencies to select and develop plans to organize mass transit. Transit routes may be developed for walking, bicycling, bussing, rail, or air.

Peterson School Career Fair 2020 - Part 2: Sales Support Specialist
Type of Career: Marketing, Business and Sales
Training and/or Education Required: High school diploma or equivalent. Earning an Associate or Bachelor's degree in Business or Marketing.
Description: A sales support specialist provides customer support by assisting with sales procedures. They help with sales-related problems, enter new orders, track orders, investigate shipping issues and manage customer accounts.

Peterson School Career Fair 2020 - Part 1: Real Estate Brokers
Type of Career: Marketing, Business and Sales
Training and/or Education Required: High school diploma or equivalent, additional training varies by each real estate company and/or by state. Also, need to obtain a broker’s license.
Description: Real estate brokers and sales agents help clients buy, sell, and rent properties. They also discuss sales agreements and manage the documents required for closing real estate transactions.
